bEASTx Teams Still Alive In The Basketball Playoffs

As we enter the second week of the UIL Boys High School Playoffs there are quite a few East Texas programs still in the hunt for a trip to San Antonio.  bEASTx has some big games coming up on Tuesday.  Here are a look at them.

1A #6 Brookeland vs #23 Laneville

The yellowjackets of Laneville are the district champs of 27-1A, while the wildcats of Brookeland are the district champs out of 28-1A.  Two of the best 1A teams in the state right here in our backyard. This matchup pans out to be a great one on paper and will take place Tuesday February 27 in Lufkin at Hudson HS @ 7:00PM.

2A #3 Beckville vs #14 San Augustine

Both of these teams went undefeated in district and are riding double digit winning streaks coming into this contest something will have to give come Tuesday night. What a matchup this is shaping up to be and it will take place Tuesday February 27 in Nacogdoches at Central Heights HS @ 7:00PM.

2A #13 Shelbyville vs #22 Timpson

A district 23-2A clash for a chance at the regional tournament.  It is rare to see 3 teams still remaining from 1 district but that's the case as the dragons and bears get ready to face off for the third time in a little over a month.  DJ Barnes led Shelbyville as they won the previous 2 meetings with Timpson but look for Terry Bussey & the bears to have something to say about that

2A #1 Martins Mill vs #18 Grapeland

The sandies of Grapeland are the district champs of 20-2A, while the mustangs of Martins Mill ran the table in 19-2A.  These two historied programs will meet again for a spot in the regional tournament.  They will face off Tuesday February 27 @7:30 in Athens.

3A #15 Westwood vs Palmer

The father/son, coach/player Bryant duo has the panthers looking to make history at Palestine Westwood.  Standing in between them and a regional tournament birth is Palmer the team that just took out district foe Mexia in the Area round.  The two will meet Tuesday night 2/27 @ 6:00 in Athens Texas to square off for a trip down to Waco.

                                                                                                                               Quintina Bryant (Facebook)

3A #17 Kountze vs Tarkington

Coach Joubert and the lions are representing 22-3A as the district champs and already eclipsed the 30 win mark on the season (32-5) but they aren't satisfied and can smell another regional tournament birth.  Tarkington is the only thing in the way as these two teams will face off Tuesday night 2/27 in Crosby @7:00.

                                                                                                                               Kountze_bball (X)

3A #17 Tatum vs Winnsboro

The eagles are back and soaring high.  Coach Carr, Coach Bradley and crew are looking to get the eagles back to the promised land of San Antonio but in order to to do that they have to deal with the Cinderella story of the Winnsboro raiders who have gotten hot at the right time.  If nothing else we can guarantee you that pressure will be applied by the time these teams get off the bus so buckle up and enjoy the ride.  7:00 Tuesday night @ Longview HS these two will clash for a chance to take the trip to Prosper for the regional tournament.

                                                                                                                                Tatum Eagles Hoops (Facebook)

3A #4 Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill vs #5 Hooks

If this game is anywhere close to the first show these two top 5 teams gave us at holiday hoops then it will be worth any drive and price of admission and anyone at Holiday Hoops championship game this year can attest to that.  Only this time there is so much more on the line including keeping your season alive and punching a ticket to the regional tournament.  7:00 Tuesday night @ Hallsville HS these two will battle yet again for a trip to Prosper TX.

5A Nacogdoches vs #1 Lancaster

The dragons of Nacogdoches are on an incredible run and find themselves one game away from a ever elusive regional tournament appearance. Lancaster, The #1 team in the state stands in the way. Dragons vs Tigers for a regional tournament both on Tuesday February 27 @7:00 at Tyler High.

                                                                                                                       Nacogdoches ISD (Facebook)

5A #17 Longview vs Crandall

The lobos have been on a mission this year.  Longview accomplished one goal winning the District and being crowned champs of 15-5A but now they have their eyes set on a regional tournament appearance.  Get your popcorn ready and enjoy the show because it is going down Tuesday February 27 @7:00 at Lindale HS.

                                                                                                                                                     @LongviewISD (X)

4A #15 Chapel Hill vs Spring Hill

Anytime you have a 4 seed in the 3rd round then its been a Cinderella ride.  On the other side you have a program that has been here before and trying to make it back to the regional tournament for the second time in Coach Johnson's short tenure at Chapel Hill (2020).  One thing we know for sure is that 17-4A will be represented in Bryan at the regional tournament.  Bulldogs and panthers will face off Tuesday February 27 @7:30 at UT Tyler.
